The Backcountry Film Festival at The Caribou Room benefits Wild Bear Nature Center. Immerse yourself in a night of films that capture the spirit of winter. Adventure, environment and climate, youth outdoors, ski culture- you’ll find it all in this award winning lineup. Wild Bear Nature Center is the only all ages non-profit nature center in Boulder County, free and open almost every day throughout the year. Since 1995, Wild Bear’s mission is to provide year round educational programs to people of all ages fostering a life-long appreciation of the environment and promoting an environmentally aware and ecologically sound community. Wild Bear was a key partner in the preservation of Mud Lake and recently secured a new 5 acres at the entry of 3,200 preserved acres on the corner of CR 128 and the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway. Now, Wild Bear is in the process of planning a permanent nature center facility located within the town of Nederland and on thousands of wild acres!

The Backcountry Film Festival is produced each year by Winter Wildlands Alliance as a celebration of the human-powered experience and a gathering place for the backcountry snowsports community. Winter Wildlands Alliance is a nonprofit organization working at the national level to inspire and educate the backcountry community to protect and care for their winter landscapes. Funds raised at each screening stay in the local community to support human-powered recreation and conservation efforts, winter education and avalanche/safety programs and to raise awareness of winter management issues.

Come up to the backcountry for a fabulous night of films, live music, food & drink, silent auction bidding, and free giveaways. Doors open at 6:00 pm. with live music from the Trickster Carousel Band! Films begin at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the event. ALL pre-sale tickets are WILL CALL at the door.

5pm-6pm: Snowshoe on Wild Bear’s NEW property at Mud Lake! Experience the site of the new NATURE CENTER. Last year we saw a moose in the moonlight!

6pm-7pm: Live music with the wonderfully fun Trickster Carousel band!

The 15th annual Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival supports Wild Bear Nature Center, Boulder County’s only free, all-ages, non-profit nature center located in Nederland, CO. Funds raised supports Wild Bear’s SnowSchool, bringing classrooms out to winter forests on snowshoes to study winter ecology and snow science.

Produced each year as a celebratory, backcountry community event by the Winter Wildlands Alliance, the 15th Annual Backcountry Film Festival line-up is full of snowy, cinematic adventure sure to inspire both the local backcountry and general communities. Winter Wildlands Alliance is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving winter wildlands and a quality human-powered snow sports experience on public lands.

By partnering with groups like Wild Bear Nature Center at a local level, the Winter Wildlands Alliance raises funds for these groups and communities through the annual Backcountry Film Festival national tour. All funds raised directly benefit local projects and programs that perpetuate access and stewardship of public lands.
