Nederland, Colorado, Dec. 10, 2020 – Eldora announced today that its planned opening day for Nordic skiing has been delayed, along with daytime uphill access. Both activities were scheduled to begin on December 14, 2020. A new start date has not been determined and will depend on natural snowfall.

Eldora’s Nordic trail network differs from the resort’s alpine operation in that it does not have snowmaking and is entirely reliant on natural snowfall. While the Eldora has received some encouraging storms through the fall and snow-surface teams have been rolling out and packing down snow on the trails in order to conserve as much as possible, a few unseasonably warm and snowless stretches have melted most of that natural bounty.

Likewise, many key sections of Eldora’s designated uphill routes and the downhill terrain they serve are either inaccessible to Eldora’s snowmaking system and lack sufficient snow to open or are active snowmaking zones with active machinery movement ongoing.

Eldora’s teams will continue to prepare to open the Nordic Center and Uphill Access as soon as possible.

For Nordic and uphill passholders who have historically taken part in early-morning Nordic access, a specific procedure has been established for request early-am parking in advance. If you are a holder of either of these specific passes and plan to participate in early access this winter, please reach out to for details.
