Eldora, the backyard winter playground for Boulder County, greater Denver, and Colorado’s northern Front Range, will open for alpine skiing and riding on Friday, November 19, with one chairlift, the Alpenglow high-speed six-person chair, and one intermediate run, Hornblower trail to International trail.

While no beginner terrain or freestyle park terrain will be available on opening day or weekend, Eldora’s operations crews will be working to open more of the mountain as weather permits.

“While natural snowfall has been light and our initial terrain offerings are quite limited, we’re thrilled to open for another great season of skiing and riding, and to provide our loyal guests with an opportunity to spend time outdoors in this beautiful place, doing what they love with friends and family," says Brent Tregaskis, Eldora’s president and general manager.

For guests planning to come to Eldora during the next few weeks, the Mountain recommends bearing in mind the following important considerations.

  • Limited Terrain and Early-Season Conditions: With very limited terrain and lots of eager skiers and riders, expect very busy slopes. No matter your age or ability, ski and ride slowly and respectfully, staying aware of your surroundings and always following Your Responsibility Code.

  • Our Commitment to COVID Safety: At this time, masks are not required outdoors, though Boulder County’s indoor mask requirement is in effect and will be enforced. Indoor dining is back, and cashless transactions are preferred. Learn more HERE.

  • Limited Weekend & Holiday Parking: Parking is a hot commodity on weekends and holidays at Eldora, so be sure to follow the arrival advice on our GETTING HERE page for any weekend or holiday visit this winter. The best way to ensure a smooth arrival experience is to avoid "peak-visitation" periods like weekend and holiday mornings and aim to visit on afternoons and weekdays.

  • Sustainable Transportation Options: Beginning November 20, Eldora will provide free shuttles from the Boulder County Justice Center to the Mountain on weekends and holiday periods. Beginning December 18, Eldora will provide free round-trip RTD bus tickets to guests without bus passes. Learn more HERE.

  • Single-Occupancy Vehicle (SOV) Fee: New this winter, Boulder County is requiring Eldora to charge SOVs $10 to park on weekends and holiday periods. These fees will begin on December 18, and will not be charged on non-holiday weekdays. Fees collected will directly fund our Sustainable Transportation Program, which includes free round-trip shuttles from Boulder and free round-trip RTD tickets for Eldora-bound riders from Boulder. Learn more HERE.

  • Lift Tickets: Early-season alpine lift tickets for adults will be offered on site for $99, with age-qualified discounts available for seniors and minors. Advance purchase alpine lift tickets will be made available by mid-December.

  • Rentals, Retail, and Lessons: Limited rental gear offerings will be available in lower Indian Peaks Lodge on Opening Day, with online booking available in December. Retail shops in Indian Peaks and Timbers Lodges will be open. Lessons will be offered beginning in late November as conditions and additional terrain openings allow.

  • Cross-Country Skiing, Uphill Skiing, and Snowshoeing: Access for alpine skiers and snowboarders begins on Friday, November 19. Our cross-country skiing, uphill skiing, and snowshoeing offerings will begin later on, as weather and snowfall permits.
